Field Trip to Manhattan

Ballet Ambassadors brought the 7th grade students from New Day Academy in the South Bronx who were involved in our May 2012 "Firebrid" residency to Manhattan for a field trip. We spent the morning at the Library of the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center where Jan Schmidt, curator of the Jerome Robbins Dance Collection, arranged for a private tour led by Tanisha Jones, Director of the Moving Image Archive. After lunch we went down to the fabled dance building at 890 Broadway where we had a two-hour "Firebird" rehearsal. The overall experience was educational, exciting, and unforgettable for each of us -- adults and students alike.
